As we drove to the grocery store, a woman cut me off in traffic. I said, "Do you know how to drive?" Owen, in the back seat, responded, "No, I don't drive!"
In the toy section of the store, we were looking at Lego sets. He said, "Do we have this at home?"
As a much younger child ran around the store throwing a ball while being closely followed by his father, Owen said, "Mom! Look! A baby!"
In the frozen food section of the grocery store, he rather forcefully said, "I need pizzas!"
None of these would be a big deal to the parent of a 3.5-year-old with typical language skills, but I'm savoring the small victories.
