Foreign Service (and other expat) types might be interested in this relatively new blog, which is all about cooking from scratch and finding creative ways to solve lifestyle-type problems that crop up when you can't just go out and buy things you want/need.
Yesterday I shared my granola recipe, a slightly different version that I posted here awhile back. You can see my post here. There also are links for contributions and questions, which are encouraged.

Thanks for posting this. I will send the link to my sister, Rebecca, who is currently living with her family in Taiwan. Her husband served a mission there and always wanted to go back. She has had to learn to bake cookies in a toaster oven, to make cakes from scratch and in said toaster oven, find the necessary items to celebrate holidays, like Halloween, that the locals don't celebrate. I'm sure she would enjoy the tips and probably be able to add a few of her own.
This is totally cool! I've recently latched onto the idea of learning how to cook, etc from scratch. After all, it's generally less expensive, not really that difficult and you can make something just the way you like it. Also, it's a lost art that needs revived. Natalie LOVES baking from scratch and granola would just blow her mind!!
